Driver who killed pedestrian along Capital Boulevard charged with DWI

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Raleigh police have charged the driver they say hit and killed a man along Capital Boulevard Saturday night.

Edwin Ramos, 24, is charged with driving while impaired.

Raleigh police identified the pedestrian killed as 63-year-old Clarence Edward Hayes.

The incident happened just after 10 p.m. near the Brentwood Road intersection.

Investigators said Hayes was trying to cross the street in the crosswalk when he was struck.
