RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The Raleigh Police Department has charged a man with beating and seriously hurting his 2-year-old child.
According to a warrant, Terrell Leon Ballard, 22, allegedly caused bruises to the child's head, arm, chest, abdomen, back, and thighs.
The attack allegedly happened June 16.
The child's mother, 23-year-old Sheena Sekret Bates is charged with aiding and abetting Ballard in the assault.
Ballard appeared in court Monday. Prosecutor Doug Faucette said Bates told investigators that Ballard used a belt on their daughter, bruising the toddler.
Faucette said Ballard admitted to using the belt but denied causing the bruises.
Bail for Ballard was originally set at $75,000 but it was raised to $100,000.
