Raleigh police announce 'Nextdoor' partnership
The Nextdoor website allows neighbors to share information with each other

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- On Wednesday, the Raleigh Police Department announced they are joining in on a social network called Nextdoor - a place where residents can join in on their neighborhood community online.

Nextdoor allows neighbors to share information with each other including safety concerns, community events and much more.

Raleigh police say they'll be able to use the website to tell residents about crime alerts and help keep neighborhoods safer.

"This works to everybody's advantage," Raleigh Police Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown said. "Rather than just being able to simply broadcast information to all residents and residents where that particular issue does not matter, it gives us the opportunity to target our information and be target specific about our efforts."

The police chief sent out a message through the website Wednesday morning, introducing herself and giving a rundown of what the new partnership means.

Other law enforcement agencies are also taking part. Visit the website to check your area.
