Raleigh Radiology offers free mammograms
RALEIGH (WTVD) -- October is breast cancer awareness month and as part of that, Raleigh Radiology is offering free mammograms on Friday, Oct. 21 to uninsured patients.
"Early detection is so important, " explained X-Ray technician Jenny Rhame. "We have seen cases where someone has skipped a year and that year in between. Could have been time that patient could have been treated."
Raleigh Radiology has been offering Free Mammogram Day since 2004. Since then, close to 1,800 free screenings have been offered.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. One in Eight women will be diagnosed in their lifetime with breast cancer according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
