Durst arrest raises questions in case of missing NCSU student
NEW ORLEANS (WTVD) -- The arrest of millionaire Robert Durst is raising new questions about the disappearance of a North Carolina State University student in 1997.
Kristen Modafferi disappeared in San Francisco while taking a summer class at the University of California at Berkeley.
According to Wednesday morning's New York Daily News, authorities investigated a suspect who dressed in drag, and Durst has been known to dress as a woman.
Durst's attorney says he had nothing to do with Modafferi's disappearance.
The 71-year-old heir to a New York real estate fortune remains in custody in New Orleans after his weekend arrest.
The HBO series "The Jinx" explores Durst's 2003 murder trial in Galveston and two other unsolved suspected killings of two women who were close to Durst, including his wife Kathy Durst and his long-time friend Susan Berman out of Los Angeles.
Durst was found not guilty in Galveston even after he admitted that he dismembered his neighbor's body and threw it into a waterway.
