Officials: No credible threat at Rolesville High School
ROLESVILLE, NC (WTVD) -- After two days of dealing with rumors being spread on social media, the Town of Rolesville is reassuring parents and students.
In a news release sent out Thursday, the town said Rolesville police, the Wake County Sheriff's Office, and school officials have investigated and found no credible threat at Rolesville High School.
"Our investigation determined that the rumored statement is unsubstantiated and that there is no known credible threat to Rolesville High School. No charges will be filed as a result of this," said the town's statement.
Mayor Frank Eagles and Police Chief Bobby Langston are asking all parents to remind children not share rumors and perpetuate fear on social media.
They said if a parent or student does see anything suspicious, they should call 911 right away.
ABC11 generally does not report on unsubstantiated school threats in an effort to not encourage people to make them, but in this case the Town of Rolesville reached out to media outlets in an effort to calm fears.
