Sampson County investigates woman's suspicious death

NEWTON GROVE (WTVD) -- A Sampson County woman was found dead, and investigators have reason to believe foul play might have been involved.

On Thursday, deputies were called to assist Emergency Medical Personnel with a dead woman on Alex Benton Road.

The ensuing investigation determined that the woman had died after receiving serious injuries. The nature of the injuries was not immediately disclosed.

The death is being treated as suspicious in nature. The woman's name and age have not been released by authorities.
