RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The Raleigh Police Department is investigating an armed robbery near the NC State campus.
It happened just after 10:45 p.m. Friday at the Pullen Park Theater.
Police say the suspect was armed with a handgun. No word on what was stolen.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing dark clothing and a hoodie.
He was last seen running away towards Ashe Avenue.
Campus police say students are encouraged to take the following safety steps to keep themselves safe:
- Walk in well lighted areas.
- Walk in groups whenever possible, especially at night.
- Avoid distractions while walking, such as listening to headphones or texting.
- Consider utilizing public transportation or the Safety Escort by calling (919) 515-3000.
- Report suspicious activities or crimes on campus by calling 911 or (919) 515-3000.
