RALEIGH (WTVD) -- N.C. State University police are investigating an alleged sexual assault on campus.

Authorities said it happened on Sunday in Carroll Hall and that the victim knew the suspect.

University police gave these tips on Facebook to help people stay safe:

If you feel unsafe, trust your instinct and contact University police.

Watch out for people who pressure you or others to use drugs or alcohol

Drinks should not be consumed if they are not from a trusted source or have been left unattended.

Be an active bystander; don't just standby, stand up and do something. If you see someone in an uncomfortable or unsafe situation, please contact University Police.
