Kinston shooting spree leaves damage, pet dog dead

KINSTON (WTVD) -- Kinston Police are investigating a rash of early morning shootings, including one that left a pet dead.

The first shooting took place about 1 a.m. in the 600 block of Dixon Street. Officers discovered the home, which had six people inside at the time, had been struck 12 times by bullets. Two kitchen windows were hit as well as the kitchen wall. No one was injured.

The second call came about 20 minutes later, in the 1100 block of Pollock Street. Though officers found several shell casings, no one was injured and no damage was discovered.

The third shooting however, resulted in the death of a dog.

It happened approximately 2:12 p.m. in the 1300 block of Morningside Drive. Officers found more shell casings near the intersection of Morningside and Frances Place. They then discovered the dog, which was a pet pit bull terrier named Snowman, found shot dead in the parking area of Morningside Apartments.
