The giant slide took over parts of downtown Raleigh

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Glenwood Avenue in downtown was packed with people as Slide the City returned to Raleigh.

The movable water attraction is like a giant Slip N' Slide and the event travels across the nation in cities and towns.

Despite the hot day, if you ask anyone how they were feeling, you'll get an answer like Bella Dickenson's: "It was great! The city's amazing!"

Patrick Dickenson, another participant, agrees.

"I've been on a couple of water slides before," he told ABC11. "Nothing this long!"

Some fans follow the event across the country like Jonathan Welker.

"Gotten to Knoxville, Florida, Georgia, Virginia," he said. "It's just a fun event!"

Danielle Hobbs came for a second try after missing out on the attraction's 2015 debut in Raleigh.

"Yep! Been wanting to come last year, but couldn't make it," she said. "It's actually really fun! I was kind of surprised!"

Devon Schumann's a fan who drove to Raleigh from Chapel Hill, packing "big floats, a bathing suit, some sunscreen, maybe a shot of tequila!"

That sunscreen proved vitally important when the sun was shining as much as it was on Saturday. Sunglasses certainly helped too.

Those who've experienced both events say the 2016 watery track is great on a day they'll remember.

"Amazing! The weather's great, it's not too hot yet. We're gonna have fun!" said slider Mark Wah.
