SPOTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WTVD) -- A Virginia high school football player was arrested Friday in connection with a reported hazing attack, authorities said.

Investigators from the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office said it happened Oct. 23, according to ABC affiliate WRIC.

Older football players reportedly hazed and assaulted two younger players, aged 14 and 15, in Spotsylvania High School's locker room.

A 15-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with attempted sodomy with an inanimate object, which is a felony. The teen was also charged with assault by mob, a misdemeanor.

"This incident, causing the victimization of our young people is a very serious matter," Sheriff Roger L. Harris said in a statement. "Schools should be a safe haven for our kids and we will continue to thoroughly investigate this matter."

Authorities believe more players were involved in the attacks and continue to conduct interviews.
