According to Food Bank officials, hunger has reached its highest level in at least a generation in North Carolina.
The State Employees' Credit Union Foundation made a grant of $500,000 to Feeding the Carolinas as food insecurity grows in North Carolina.
The goal is to feed nearly 5,000 DPS families at 12 elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools.
The program aims to supply nonprofits and organizations with money to help with the food security work they're already doing.
