Chad Roger Penland turned himself in to Johnston County deputies on charges of sex crimes involving a minor.

The initial police report said Nichols "started to fight" with officers and at one point grabbed one of their guns. But neither claim was substantiated by police videos released last week.
The Memphis Fire Department announced it fired two EMTs who responded to the scene for failing to properly assess Nichols as he lay beaten on the ground. A Memphis FD lieutenant was also fired, the agency said.
The length of the school district police department suspension is not clear.
