Students paid tribute to the two teens killed in a car accident

HARNETT COUNTY (WTVD) -- Students at one Harnett County high school got their diplomas Saturday, but not before many paid their respects to two classmates killed in a car accident.

A makeshift memorial was set up on the Campbell University campus where seniors at Triton High School had their graduation.

Kzon Crenshaw, 18, a senior at the high school, and his best friend, Kirby Wood, 16, were killed in a devastating crash earlier in the week. Highway patrol said Wood went too fast around curve at around 80 mph. Investigators said Wood was trying to pass a car on Ash Avenue and lost control, slamming into two trees.

Crenshaw was wearing a seat belt and died at the hospital. Wood was instantly thrown from the vehicle and died. He was a junior at Triton High. He was laid to rest by his family and friends Saturday.

Crenshaw's family accepted his diploma. He was planning to attend a trade school in Virginia. His funeral is scheduled for Tuesday at Triton High.
