SMITHFIELD, NC (WTVD) -- Johnston County officials say a tractor-trailer carrying processed chicken hit a bridge on Interstate 95 at US 70 Business early Tuesday morning.
It happened just after 3 a.m.
The cab of the truck was destroyed after colliding with a bridge support. The driver was cut from the wreckage and taken to WakeMed where his condition is not known.
Pictures from Chopper 11 showed a wrecker pulling the trailer off onto the shoulder of the interstate while the remains of the cab were taken away.
Southbound I-95 was closed at Mile Marker 95 for hours. It reopened just after 11 a.m. Tuesday.
