Truck burns on Durham Freeway

DURHAM, NC (WTVD) -- An apparent brake problem caused the wheels of a truck to overheat and the tires to catch fire Tuesday.

It happened on the Durham Freeway between Alston Avenue and Briggs Avenue just before 2 p.m.

The flames spread to the cab of the truck, but the driver was not hurt.

The Durham Fire Department put out the blaze and one lane of Hwy 147 was shut down while the big rig was towed away.
