Two arrested in Wayne County murder
WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- Two people have been arrested for the murder of a woman who was shot inside her home in Wayne County.
Authorities said the shooting happened on Oct. 1 at a home in the 3400 block of Arrington Bridge Road in Dudley. Several children were also reportedly in the house when the shooting occurred.
Police said two men and a woman tried to break into the house, but when they couldn't get inside, the suspects fired shots into the home.
One bullet struck the victim, Georgina Fajardo, in the head. She later died at Wayne Memorial Hospital. The four children and a man inside the home were not injured.
Wednesday, two suspects were arrested for the crime. Maria Guadalupe Garcia, 20, and Arnulfo Ascencio, 22, are both charged with murder.
They are both being held at the Wayne County Detention Center without bond.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and at this point they have not revealed a motive for the murder.
