Holly Springs eases water restrictions

HOLLY SPRINGS

The Town Council voted unanimously April 1 to ease restrictions, effective April 2. Improvement in the region's drought had allowed Harnett County to modify its water conservation measures a few days earlier.

Here are the new Holly Springs watering rules:

  • Odd-number addresses - Sprinklers and irrigation systems are allowed on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday between 6 and 10 a.m. and 6 and 10 p.m.
  • Even-number addresses - Sprinklers and irrigation systems are allowed on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday between 6 and 10 a.m. and 6 and 10 p.m.
  • No use of irrigation systems or sprinklers with public water is allowed on Fridays

Thirty (30)-day watering permits for new seed or sod will cost $50. However, the $50 fee will be waived for warm season grasses.

Other restrictions that have been in place are lifted for now, although town officials asks that water customers conserve however they can. Residents can wash vehicles at home any day of the week, and power wash a home.
