Freeway freed

BURLINGTON The dog will be put through a training program to make him more adoptable.

Freeway got the attention of people when he started hanging out near Exit 154 along Interstate 85/40 in Mebane. He was friendly, but extremely shy, and attempts to catch him didn't work for weeks.

Bruce Raskin was just one of many residents who say they befriended the dog and fed him meals. Raskin eventually managed to catch him in his backyard, and got bitten on the hand in the process.

Because he bit someone, Burlington Police put him in quarantine and were hesitant to allow him to be put up for adoption.

Normally an un-owned animal with no vaccination history is not released back into the public, but because Paws4 Ever was willing to take on Freeway, Burlington police relented.
