The Oxford Gastro Pub, 319 Fayetteville St., Raleigh, will be the site of an "alternative inaugural ball," from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Old North State Medical Society viewing party

Old North State Medical Society will have brunch and a viewing party at the Brownstone Hotel on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh starting at 10 a.m. That night, the group will hold a ball for children and youth. Call (919) 696-0206.

Rep. Brad Miller Hosts Inaugural Town Hall Meeting

Congressman Brad Miller (D-NC) is hosting an Inaugural Town Hall Meeting at the Raleighwood Cinema Grill at 6609 Falls of Neuse Road for anyone interested in sharing their views about the economy, foreign policy, priorities for the 111th Congress and watching the Inauguration Swearing-In ceremony of President-elect Barack Obama.

The town hall meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. and last until 11:30 a.m. on January 20, 2009.
