A total of 91 soldiers, including the battalion commander, will march in the parade.
Battalion commander Lt. Col. Xavier Brunson said the soldiers will be participating not only in a change of command but in the peaceful exchange of power that is "the hallmark of democracy."
The infantry regiment, also known as the 1st Brigade Combat Team, was activated in 1942 at Fort Benning, Ga., before plans were announced later that year to create the 82nd Airborne.
