NC universities may cut jobs, classes

RALEIGH The system's 16 campuses could lose well over 1,000 jobs and be forced to cancel hundreds of classes, due to a 7 percent budget reduction.

The cuts would also cause class sizes to increase. And more classes would be taught by part-time instructors rather than full-time professors.

Leaders say they have been working to accommodate an anticipated budget cut, because of North Carolina facing a $2 billion budget shortfall.
