"Tweeps" blog, meet to raise money for charity

RALEIGH A group of people who use Twitter to blog, or Tweeps, are throwing a party to raise money for a group that provides access to clean drinking water for developing nations around the world.

More than 175 cities internationally are throwing similar events Thursday to raise money for charity. Organizers are using Twitter to reach out to like-minded social network members in the Triangle and increase the charitable contributions.

The event will take place at the Edge Office at 400 Glenwood Avenue in Raleigh. Tickets are $14 online or $20 at the door.
