Deputies say they've cracked cold case

FAYETTEVILLE On February 21, 1985, 24-year-old Kelly McDuffy and his wife, 20-year-old Bobbie Michelle McDuffy were found dead in their home at 437 Squirrel Street in Fayetteville.

Monday, a grand jury indicted Kelly McDuffy's brother, 48-year-old Sean Patrick McDuffy, on first-degree murder charges.

Detectives reopened the case in 2007. They said the trail led them to Georgia, Missouri, Ohio and Arizona before they got enough evidence to file charges against McDuffy.

He will be returned to Cumberland County to stand trial in September when he is paroled from the Georgia Department of Correction. McDuffy is serving a sentence there for attempted first-degree murder after trying to kill his girlfriend by decapitation.
