Bear frightens the Governor

ASHEVILLE When Governor Perdue and her husband took their dogs out to the front yard one night at their western residence in Asheville, they were confronted by a bear just 15 to 20 feet away.

Perdue told a local newspaper that the bear probably weighed 200 to 300 pounds. She said she was scared to death and ran inside.

Perdue says they didn't see the bear at first, because it was their first night there and they couldn't find the switch for the outdoor lights.
