Funeral held for man killed in hit and run

RALEIGH On Wednesday morning, 71-year-old Lewis Gray was hit and killed on Falls of Neuse Road. Gray's friends say he was an avid walker.

He was just minutes from his home at the time of the accident.

A viewing was held for him on Sunday at Brown Wynn Funeral Home in Raleigh. Then those close to Gray met at the North Ridge Pub in North Raleigh.

Dozens of people packed the bar. They say Gray was a well-liked, easy going man who will be greatly missed.

"He was very much a people person. He was a great principle man," friend Paul Bronson said. "He ran a law firm and was good at it. He was a wine aficionado. He was a good guy, a good all around guy."

Carlos Rodriguez is charged in the deadly hit and run. Federal authorities want to deport him for being in the country illegally.
