Is your money trickling away?

RALEIGH State and federal authorities want homeowners to be on the lookout for leaky pipes.

The N.C. Department of Environment and Natural Resources said that March 16-20 is designated "Fix A Leak Week" by it and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The average home wastes 11,000 gallons of water a year because of leaks. Ten percent waste 90 or more gallons a day.

Common causes are leaky toilet flappers and cheap do it yourself fixture replacements.

The easiest way to see if you have a problem is by turning off all the taps in your house and then checking your water meter to see if it's turning.
