Cumberland County deputies have charged a school employee with embezzlement. Shelia Harris, 45, was arrested Friday. Investigators say Harris was employed as a cashier in the cafeteria at Eastover Central Elementary School.

Between the dates of September 4, 2008 and February 25, 2009, Harris allegedly stole more than $1,500 in cash and checks from students and parents for meals.

On March 31, detectives say Harris was seen on surveillance video taking money from the cash register in the cafeteria and putting it in her pocket.

Harris was released from the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $2,000 bond. She is expected to make a first court appearance on Monday.
