I-40 repaving to start Monday

The North Carolina DOT says repaving work will start on Interstate 40 beginning Monday, June 1.New blacktop will be laid on a 6.8-mile section of the highway from mile marker 283, east of I-540, to Wade Avenue (State Road 1728) in Wake County.

The $5.9 million contract was awarded to Rea Contracting, LLC of Raleigh. Work is scheduled to be completed by May 2010.

The work will be done at night from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. with at least one lane of traffic open at all times.
