Authorities say Mullinax hosted a party at his residence on July 27 for the Marines in his unit.
The victim, who is also a Marine, said several hours after he fell asleep, he awakened to his cell phone alarm on the morning of the 28th. As he woke up, he realized Mullinax was touching him inappropriately.
The victim said he left the home and reported the incident to his military command and the sheriff's office the next day.
On August 4, deputies arrested Mullinax. He is being held in the Onslow County Detention Center.
