Fayetteville airport scare

FAYETTEVILLE Flight 2568, a regional jet flying from Charlotte to Fayetteville, landed shortly after 7p.m.

Officials said someone smelled smoke in the cabin, so the pilots stopped the jet on the tarmac instead of the terminal.

"During the landing process, someone noted that there was a bit of smoke, not sure what the origin is, the pilot made the determination that he wanted to be safe and he basically stopped the aircraft on our taxiway alpha," Asst. Airport Director Toney Coleman said.

All of the passengers got off the plane safely.

Further details about the incident are not available at this time.
