Cheston's co-workers became worried after he did not report to work for a week, so they called police. He was a grant writer for the department.
Police later released a surveillance tape of a man seen with Cheston shortly before he died.
Now, police have arrested Manuel Salvador Zamora Diaz, 23, and charged him with murder. Detectives say the investigation continues.
