A 10-year-old Goldsboro boy died in the hospital Friday after being hit by a SUV while crossing the road to his school bus stop. NC Highway Patrol told ABC11 Eyewitness News that Dakota Medlin was crossing a rural road near the 3000 block of Stevens Mill Road just before 7 a.m. when he was hit.

Medlin later died at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.

Authorities say the driver of the Chevy Trailblazer, 32-year-old Wendy Jones of Four Oaks, will not be charged because there was nothing she could have done to avoid hitting Medlin.
