According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, 59-year-old Candace Martindale shot her husband, Jeffery Martindale, in the abdomen.
Jeffrey was taken to Wake Med with non life-threatening injuries and was later released.
Candace was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
She is in the in Wake County Jail without and will make her first court appearance Tuesday afternoon.
