Officials ID Marine's body found at Lejeune

Authorities are investigating the death of a Marine whose body was found at Camp Lejeune.

According to Lejeune authorities, 19-year-old Pfc. Timothy J. Newcomer's body was found Wednesday between two main roads north of the Hadnot Point area of the base.

Newcomer was from Winnebago, Ill. The circumstances of his death are under investigation.

No additional details were released as of Friday.

Newcomer enlisted in the Marine Corps in Oct. 2008 and was an infantry rifleman assigned to Gulf Company, 2nd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division. His decorations include the National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
