Police in Knightdale said a group of young people was walking along Laurens Way around 8 p.m., when a man ran up to them and fired three or four shots from a handgun.
The victim, Torrahn Hughes, 18, of Knightdale, was shot in the head. Hughes was listed in critical condition at Wake Medical Center.
The shooter ran to a car, got into the passenger seat, and the car sped off. After an investigation, police arrested three men in connection with the shooting.
Maurice Devon Jenkins, 20, of Wendell, was charged with Attempted Murder and Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. Emanuel Devon Young, 20, of Wendell, was charged with Accessory After the Fact of Attempted Murder. Rayshawn Delano Austin, 24, of Wendell, was charged with Accessory After the Fact of Attempted Murder.
All three men were at the Wake County Jail Thursday morning.
