Firefighters were called to their rental home on Baptist Road just before 2:00 a.m.
The home was badly damaged, but the couple escaped without injury. They credit their newly installed smoke detectors for getting them out safely.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The American Red Cross is helping the couple.
