Soldier wanted in fatal Fayetteville shooting

Police say they are looking for 20-year-old Brandon Joseph Mims in connection with the death of 23-year-old Michael Ray Staggs.Authorities say Staggs was found dead in his car, which was parked outside a food store on Bonanza Drive around 8 p.m. Saturday. He had been shot in the head and the car was riddled with bullets.

Mims was last seen driving a black 1976 Harley Davidson motorcycle (Florida Registration 52APD) in the Hope Mills area on Sunday around 4 p.m. Mims is a soldier assigned to Fort Bragg, but has friends and family in Key West, Florida and he may be heading in that direction.

Anyone with information about Mims' whereabouts is urged to call Crimestoppers at 910-483-TIPS or the Fayetteville Police Department at 910-433-1830.
