Police closed off streets in the area of Mourning Dove Road and Apple Orchard Way in north Raleigh due to a gas line break Monday afternoon.

That's in a neighborhood west of Falls of Neuse Road and south of West Millbrook Middle School and Millbrook High School.

School officials said West Millbrook kept a small number of students who walk home at school and called parents to pick them up. Buses and car pool students dismissed as normal.

A spokesperson with PSNC said a contractor working in the area hit a 2-inch plastic gas line, damaging it.

There were no reports of evacuations.

The gas was shut off a little after 4 p.m. and four homes had no gas service.

Repairs were underway.
