Police in Durham said that members of U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested a man Wednesday after a sex assault at a school bus stop last Friday.

Christopher Brian Cates, 24, of Russell Road in Durham, has been charged with first-degree sexual offense, taking indecent liberties with a child, first-degree kidnapping, sexual battery and common-law robbery.

Police said he attacked a 13-year-old girl who was waiting for her school bus around 6:50 a.m. on Friday near the intersection of Cornwallis Road and Century Oaks Drive.

ABC11 generally does not identify the victims of sexual assault.

It's not the first arrest for Cates. He was charged in 2007 with exposing himself to a woman on the American Tobacco Trail in Durham.

Records show he was charged in another exposure incident in 2008.

He also has two convictions for breaking into vehicles in 2009.

His bond was set Thursday at one million dollars.
