She is also accused of driving it while she was in charge of watching a 12-year-old boy, who is a family friend.
Police say during her joy ride, Mitchell hit a curb and damaged the vehicle.
Mitchell has been charged with child abuse charge and one count of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. She is currently in jail.
