Authorities say 39-year-old Elbert Mitchell, III pulled into the path of a SUV in Myrtle Beach Saturday. Mitchell was in town for the Memorial Day weekend bikefest.
Mitchell had been with the Durham Police Department since 1997.
His funeral was held Thursday at Union Baptist Church in Durham.
