According to reports, it appeared a Ford Explorer collided with a Durham police Chevrolet Tahoe driven by a Durham police sergeant, causing the Tahoe to flip over on its side.
Authorities had to extract the sergeant from the car and transported him to Duke University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The other driver, a woman, was also taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Hillsborough Road had to be closed as authorities cleared the scene.
It is unclear at this time what caused the accident.
