Warrants indicate Ackerson was killed in Raleigh

RALEIGH

Six warrants were made available Tuesday. Twenty-seven-year-old Ackerson was reported missing on July 18 and her dismembered body was discovered in Texas on July 24.

At least one of the search warrants was for the Hayes's Raleigh apartment on Bella Park Trail.

Grant and Ackerson had two children together and Ackerson was last seen visiting with the children at the Hayes's apartment on July 13 -- five days before a coworker reporter her missing.

According to the warrants, Ackerson was scheduled to meet with a friend in Cary after visiting with her children on July 13, but she never arrived.

Investigators took carpet samples, plumbing and debris from the apartment's drains and say they believe Ackerson was killed and dismember at the Raleigh apartment before being transported to Texas and dumped in a creek near property owned by Amanda's sister.

Police also say the Hayes's owned a saw. Investigators have said that a saw may have been used to dismember Ackerson's body.

Grant and Amanda are both charged with Ackerson's murder. Ackerson two boys are in the custody of Hayes's parents, but her father is trying to gain custody.
