Police take DNA from former NC State player

RALEIGH

According to search warrants, detectives got the samples by swabbing the inside of Gavin Grant's mouth. Police are comparing the DNA to evidence collected from a Cary apartment where a man was pistol-whipped last year.

Grant faces a long list of robbery-related charges. He remains in the Wake County Jail under a $250,000 bond.

Grant played on NC State's basketball team from 2004 to 2008 and most recently in the NBA Development League for the Utah Flash.
