Students injured in Johnston Co. school bus accident

KENLY, NC

The bus, which was carrying 13 North Johnston High School and Middle School students, flipped over on Oliver Road, just over the Wayne County line, around 3:30 p.m.

School district officials say there were no major injuries. They also say the parents of students involved in the crash have been notified.

Sgt. M. Kirby of the State Highway Patrol told ABC11 that the bus driver was looking in the mirror at some activity in the back the bus when the accident happened. She will be charged with failing to maintain lane control.

The injured were taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital as a precaution.

No other cars were involved. Officials say the road where the bus flipped onto its side is narrow and on a curve.
