Clayton woman struck and killed on U.S. 70

GARNER

North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper Nathan White said Rivadeneira got into an argument with her boyfriend while the two were driving home from a restaurant.

She asked for her boyfriend to pull over, so she could get out of the car. Her boyfriend drove away, as she walked with traffic along the 1900 block of U.S. 70.

Jaqueline Holland was driving home when she hit Rivadeneira shortly after 11 p.m.

Before she was killed, Rivadeneira called her boyfriend to apparently pick her up after she could not reach a friend.

Troopers said Rivadeneira's boyfriend came across the accident scene as he drove back to pick her up.

The accident closed U.S. 70 down for about two hours, and Trooper White said charges will not be filed.
