Camp Lejeune Marine killed in Afghanistan

GREENSBORO

Lance Cpl. Christopher Levy, 21, of Ramseur, died Dec. 10 of wounds sustained Dec. 7 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune.

The 21-year-old was flown to a U.S. military hospital in Germany, where his family joined him before he died.

Levy was an organ donor and that will allow others to live a long life, his family said.

He was born in Greensboro and joined the Marines after graduating from high school.

Levy had volunteered for a second tour of duty in Afghanistan.
