Argument leads to deputy-involved shooting

SPRING LAKE, N.C. Cumberland County Sheriff's officials were called to 3110 Huntley Drive at around 10:30 p.m., after the woman reported being shot by the man.

When they arrived, deputies say the man opened fire at them.

Investigators say the deputies returned fire, striking the man.

Both the victim and the suspect were taken to a nearby hospital and are said to have non-life threatening injuries.

The State Bureau of Investigation is assisting the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office investigation, as is standard in any officer- or deputy-involved shooting.
